From Social Worker to Sustainability Role Model

Charlotte Knowles: Co-owner Elektec

Charlotte, joined her husband’s fledgling business, Elektec, which provides electrical services for commercial and industrial organisations, in 2019 as co-owner. As a female business owner in the construction industry, Charlotte quickly became a role model within the profession and her creative CSR campaign led to a huge increase in brand awareness and business growth.

And the awards soon followed:

2021 BIBAs Construction Business of the Year.
2022 North West Family Business Awards: Best Grassroots Social Impact.
2022 Enterprise Business Awards: Best Female Family Business Owner (NW)
2022 HIVE awards: Commitment to Blackburn with Darwen and Family Business Awards.

Elektec, was acquired by Greenarc in 2023 and Charlotte was appointed Sustainability and Social Responsibility Director, continuing her work on sustainable practices within the industry and local community.

Charlotte is also a member of the Calderdale Green Economy Team, a collaborative effort that unites businesses and community leaders in driving sustainable development and addressing the challenges of climate change.

With innovative marketing and educational ideas, she is now trying to educate the future generation with regards to renewable energy and energy saving services. Her work has also been recognised by The Prince’s Trust, where she is a National Ambassador for their Women Supporting Women campaign.

Having transitioned Elektec into Greenarc, Charlotte is now working on her next challenge within the sustainability sector.
