Pamela Evans: The Digger Lady Breaking Ground and Barriers

At 16, Pamela Evans became the first female and youngest person to earn a 360° tracked excavator licence. Despite teachers discouraging her passion, she pursued weekend digging jobs with her dad.

In 2016, battling postnatal depression, debt, and supporting her husband through serious health issues, Pamela hit rock bottom. “The only time I felt good was when I was digging,” she recalls.

With just £150, she hired a digger and five gallons of diesel – completing a job that launched The Digger Ladybusiness. Her journey from food bank reliance to building a thriving excavation company is one of grit and resilience.

Now, Pamela champions women in construction, visiting schools and supporting charities to inspire future “digger ladies.” Her story proves that passion, persistence, and a little diesel can fuel extraordinary success.
